SAC Memorial Dedication
On Friday, 2 May, 2008, at 1400 hrs., the SAC Memorial was dedicated in the Memorial Park at the US Air Force Museum in Fairborn Ohio. About 200 attended including special guests M/Gen James (Russ) McCarthy and M/Gen Tom Rue, both of whom were Wave Commanders on the first and second night of LINEBACKER II. Several pictures of the event are included below. The words on the front of the memorial would not load probably due to the fat fingers of the author. We’ll try to load it in a subsequent blog entry.
SEC DEF Tom Reed was the guest speaker at the SAC Reunion banquet held “..under the wing..” of the B-52 in the USAF Museum. Not included in this picture is General Le May’s hat on a table just to the right of his portrait. Rich Duran gave a heart felt opening speech that included an emotional description of the “Table of the Missing Aviator” which is also shown with an F-22 in the background
. Also shown below is the author in front of the SAC Memorial, just to prove I was there.
